Decifra
Installation and Configuration Tips

The download, installation, short-cut creation and filetype association are standard and intuitive, for those who are familiarized with these tasks. However, to avoid any discomfort in this field, we provide the following tips...

Download and Installation
1. To download the desired installation program (file), use a mouse click on the filename (link), select a folder to receive the file in your computer, and confirm the operation. You can use any folder, as the installation program must not necessarily be kept after completing the installation.

2. After the conclusion of the download, the installation program must be invoked (for instance, through a mouse double click). Observe, in the corresponding window, that files to be installed are show in a highlight background (dark blue, here), and that only those which remain in this condition will be expanded into the selected folder (you can select or deselect files by clicking with the mouse on their names). The application main file is Decifra2E.exe (where 2E refers to the version number, in English).

3. Select the destination folder (Extract to:). We ordinarily suggest "C:\Decifra2\", but you can select (Browse) or type in any valid folder (eventually new folders will be created).

4. If the destination folder contains similar files, don't forget to select the appropriate Overwrite option before confirming the installation (Extract button):

a. Confirm Overwrite
b. Overwrite
c. Don't Overwrite

IMPORTANT:The selected (highlighted) files will be expanded in the destination folder, where all customizing files will later be written. To preserve the significance of this "Decifra folder", songs and other documents shall preferably be saved in other folders. To organize your song library, we suggest the creation of a specific folder structure (which you can modify, from time to time, for your convenience).

Short-cut creation

1. To create a shortcut in the Windows main screen (Windows Desktop), shown in the following example, click on it with the mouse right button and ask for New --> Shortcut:

2. In the related window, type the complete Decifra filename (including the folder path) or use the Search button to find it in your hard disk. Then, go to the next step and choose a proper name for the shortcut. Later on, through the shortcut Properties (click on the shortcut icon with the mouse right button), you may modify its name and icon (for this purpose, we include alternative images in the full installation pack).

3. To create a shortcut in the Start Menu, and in its folders Programs or Favorites, simply drag the Desktop one with the mouse to the desired position. Alternatively, use the Windows Explorer to select the special folder which represents the Start Menu (or one of its subfolders) and, on its top menu, click in File > New > Shortcut to invoke the shortcut creation window. Then, repeat the procedure described above.

Associating DEC files to Decifra

With a mouse double click on a filelist, a DEC file can be opened by Decifra, as long as this filetype is associated to our program. And that is very simple. Just apply a double click on a DEC file, to get an auxiliary window where a program to open the file can be chosen. To make your choice permanent, before confirming the operation, don't forget to 'check' the option "Always use this program to open these files" (and to fill the file type description).

1. Before the program selection, some Windows versions may ask you for a decision between a "Web (Internet) search" and "Searching on a list" (which must be your choice).
2. In any case, Decifra2E.exe will not probably be included in the program list. Therefore, it will be necessary to click on the button "Other" or "Search" to locate it, according to the page instructions.
